SP Technology design and build bespoke production and process automation systems for a wide range of industries including food and drink, automotive, pharmaceutical, medical devices, electronics and healthcare.
David Fyffe approached the Portal Manager Jamie Henderson with a specific problem relating to a device which they had developed. Ahmed ElSheikh was identified as the academic with the required expertise in dynamic loading conditions, damping systems and damping performance.
Measure small force displacement on a needle-free injection device to validate the related quantity of damping grease required to give a specific force resistance. By doing this, SP Technology were able to determine the methodology that was to be used to assemble the device in an automated machine. All previous methods employed up to that point by the company had been unsuccessful and could not be validated which was preventing the company from being able to finalise the product design and take the product to a particular market.
A £5,000 grant was was provided through the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) Innovation Voucher Scheme.
