Funding Partners

The Innovation Portal receives funding support from the Scottish Government's Scottish Executive Expertise, Knowledge & Innovation Transfer programme (SEEKIT) and European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)

SEEKIT

The Scottish Government. Info about SEEKITThe SEEKIT programme is designed to support projects that promote co-operation in R&D and knowledge transfer between small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and the Scottish public sector science base.

The key objectives of the new programme are:

  • to help effect wealth creation from the science base;
  • to increase the competitiveness of SMEs through their engagement with the science base; and
  • to encourage productive knowledge transfer links between business and the science base.

ERDF

Scotland has received ERDF funding for more than 20 years, under the EU's Regional Policy. During that time well over £2,000 million has been spent on a huge variety of projects in the designated areas of Scotland - normally matched pound for pound by money from national or local government or other sources.

The key objectives of the programme are:

  • to support regions that are lagging behind the rest of the EU in economic development - measured as those regions where the GDP is less than 75 per cent of the EU average.
  • to support areas undergoing economic and social change - this covers urban and rural areas where traditional industries are in decline and new sources of employment must be found.
  • to tackle long-term unemployment and social exclusion.
