Innovation in Renewable Energy

Wednesday 11 April 2012

Given the newly elected Scottish Government’s pledge that 80% of Scotland's electricity and 11% of heat will be supplied from renewable sources by 2020, this could underpin the Scottish economy by providing a range of jobs across this ever expanding sector. Dundee and Methil have been identified as two of eleven sites that are ideal for development to support the offshore industry.

Dundee could become a hub for the manufacture of offshore turbine components and exploit the existing subsea expertise in Scotland. In addition, Forth Energy’s controversial proposed Biomass plant would also be a source of green energy and additional jobs. This workshop will be a focus for debate on the renewable energy issue and academics from the University of Dundee will highlight how their expertise can support such developments in the local community.

Programme details to follow.
