Open Visit to IMSaT - 28th & 29th April

Thursday 29 April 2010 at 17:30pm

The Institute of Medical Science and Technology , Dundee's custom built centre for medical device research will open its doors to the life science community for a programme of talks, tours and networking.

The event will coincide with a visit to the institute by Dr Harold Egner from the Fraunhofer Institute  in Stuttgart, Germany, who will also present within the programme of talks.
The Fraunhofer Society in Germany is the largest organisation for applied research in Europe, carrying out work of direct utility to private and public enterprise and of wide benefit to society. With an annual research budget of € 1.6 billion, it has 17,000 staff in more than 80 research units and other centres and offices in Europe, the USA, Asia and the Middle East. Long a topic of discussion, practical steps are now under way in the UK to develop links with the Fraunhofer Society and similar activity to target success in knowledge exchange. Dr Harald Egner is a leading figure in these developments; in his talk in IMSaT, he will outline how these may progress in the future.

To open this event to the wider community, BioDundee and IMSaT, in partnership with the Innovation Portal, will run the same programme over two days, hosting an evening reception at 5.30pm Wednesday 28th April, and a working lunch at 12.30pm on Thursday 29th April.
