Wednesday 19 November 2008

Innovation Showcase

This inspiring event was held in the Dalhousie Building at the University of Dundee on the 19th of November 2008.

Student Day

Student Day gave students an appreciation of the process of innovation and its significance in the knowledge economy. The day also stimulated the imagination of students to recognise the exciting and challenging career opportunities open to individuals with the ambition to be involved in innovation.

The Enterprise Gym and Innovation Portal offered an:

  • Exciting programme of illustrated presentations from Apple and Dr Steve Otto from the R&A, St Andrews
  • Interactive talks from spin-out and start-up entrepreneurs
  • Two competitions comprising £1500 prize money
  • Exhibition featuring 20 University of Dundee, University of Abertay Dundee and SCRI research groups showcasing their technology and expertise

This event provided an unprecedented learning opportunity for students to understand more about the connection between research and innovation, and to take part in "innovative thinking" activities.
